Funds Received!
Hello ARM supporters! I wanted to post a quick update to let you know that recipients (Black moms in advanced academic STEM/Med training) have received funds! We received a thank you note that came in from one of the women who received an ARM Fund grant from Meharry Medical College. Her message was a powerful reminder to me that when we tell mothers that we support them and value their contributions to academic science and medicine, we are also passing that message on to their children. As you head into the end of this ridiculously painful year, I hope your support of this fund has been a bright spot along the way.
Remember that you can still donate here, but also if you are considering your end-of-year donations, you can donate directly to Meharry Medical College under “Give Now” by specifying the ARM Fund and to the HBCU Foundation on a direct link.
I’m also posting a link to a new cool way to support the ARM Fund while also sporting the latest in science-nerd chic! One of our very own ARMs, Kishana Taylor is a Virologist and a co-founder of Black-in-Microbiology Week. She worked with designer/scientist Christine Liu to create awesome enamel influenza virus pins and is donating the proceeds to the ARM Fund. 40% of each sale from these pins goes to the ARM Fund but 100% of the cool will be attached to your jacket.
I hope that you’re hanging in there wherever you are right now. Thank you for taking the time to make it better for others this year, you have made a difference.
Thank you,
The Academic Research Moms
