Ohio Pitches In!
Hello Columbus Dispatch and The Ohio State University readers! Thank you so much for bringing your support to our cause. Below is a link to a recent article from the Columbus Dispatch in Columbus, Ohio highlighting two of the Academic Research Moms (ARMs) who have helped to start this fund. We want to thank YOU and all of the ARMs who have donated, shared and talked to colleagues, friends and family. We especially want to thank The HBCU Foundation and Meharry Medical College for their incredible help. Representatives from both institutions were willing to hear us explain why this was an unmet need in academic research/medicine training and then said “Let’s do it!” They have put in the work to create first-time ever funds for offsetting childcare costs for mothers of color who are in advanced training for STEM research and medicine. We are so proud to have sent the first round of donations to them – $18,000 each! A second round of donations will be sent to them next week. All proceeds less GoFundMe fees will go directly to their new ARM Fund and the first awards will be made soon.
